Sand Bench

We found an adorable head/foot board and made this bench.  It turned out soooo cute and right now it is sitting in my bedroom making a cozy place to watch tv.

The Mr. built the box and seat and put the bench together.  He primed it in chocolate brown and put the tape where he wanted the distressing to show (pretty clever idea he came up with).

Next step was to paint the bench in a sand color.  He then remove the tape so the chocolate would show through at the desired spots.

Red Bench

SOLD
!!!!!!!This bench now has a new home in Kaysville, Utah!!!!!
We went to our fav store and purchased this beauty.  I knew immediately that this would be my RED bench.  I had a vision and knew exactly what it was going to end up looking like.  Dick built the bench and then painted it Awning Red with his new paint gun that he got for his birthday.  He sure has learned how to make his painting perfect with it.

We got to this point and began to do the black glazing and lo and behold the bench was almost ruined.  We switched glazing compounds to a Home Depot brand, Behr, which was the biggest error of all.  The dry time is to short and would dry before getting it rubbed off. Dick had to repaint the bench in the area that had been glazed and then another trip to Ogden to Lowe’s to get the right product, Valspar.

We lightly distressed this bench instead of the heavy distressing that was done on the previous benches.  With an new batch of black glazing mixed up, we started the process of glazing our beautiful red bench.  The colors just change once the glazing process is started.

Oregano Headboard Bench and End Table…

SOLD!!!
THIS BENCH NOW HAS A NEW HOME IN OGDEN, UT

DSCN4108
I love this bench and have had a hard time trying to part with it.  There isn’t anything I don’t like about it.  There is something about the back that just seems to draw me in.  I have fallen in LOVE with the color oregano so that is the color that Dick painted the bench then glazed in black.
DSCN4109
I am so taken with the posts on this bench.  They seem to set off the entire look that we were trying to capture.

After the distressing was finished, the bench just took on a different character and the medallion just wants to pop right out at you.

We found this table at our favorite store in the whole wide world, DI’s.  When my eye caught a glimpse of it, I went as fast as my legs would take me to grab the ticket off before anyone else could buy it.  It was an ugly brown (no before picture as the painter man beat me before pictures were taken).  After a light sanding and a good coat of primer and spray paint this is what we came up with.  It too is in the oregano and glazed with black.

I love how the table and bench compliment each other.  Tomorrow I get to bring them into my home to enjoy until they find a new home.

Green Bench

SOLD
This bench has a new home in Syracuse, Utah.

DSCN3977
With lots imagination this gorgeous headboard became a bench.  We had to find a footboard for the arms and then a seat was constructed.
DSCN3979
There was a flaw in the motifs that were on the bed.  So the handy dandy hubby took the coping saw and fixed the piece on both sides so that they matched.  He had to do a little sanding to make the motif perfect.
DSCN3997
With our famous primer, no one is able to tell that this motif was not suppose to look like this.
DSCN3996
Next the entire bench was primed…..

then the painting began.  We only use Krylon spray paint on our furniture as it has the best nozzle and it is easier to use.  Plus the coverage is fantastic.  Several light coats are used and the ending results are like furniture that you purchase from the store.

We used Hosta green then distressed the bench before adding the final touch of a glaze tinted brown.

I love the tall posts on this bench.  To me it makes the bench look so elegant.

After applying the glaze, the color suddenly changed and I love this bench.  We moved it into the living room where I will be able to enjoy it until it finds a new home.

Blue Bench

SOLD
FotoFlexer_Photo blue bench

This bench was painted in strawflower, topped with widlflower and glazed in black. We distressed the bench to where the yellow would show through some of the blue.  Very chic-eee I think.
What a cute addition it will make in the bedroom of the little baby girl that lives in West Haven, Utah.

Yellow Bench
