Brown Desk

SOLD!!!!!
This desk has a new home in Brigham City.
DSCN4362
This desk sold the day we brought it home.  It was a well used desk and needed much repair work on it.  After getting all the repairs done on it, Dick painted it a chocolate brown then we glazed it in black.  This is going to be a “man desk” at it’s new home.
The couple that bought this desk had found two night stands that they wanted him to refinish.  They were done in the same color and black glazing.  There were detail markings on the stands and the glazing just really brought them out.  To bad they picked them up before I got the pictures of them.

Red Bench

SOLD
!!!!!!!This bench now has a new home in Kaysville, Utah!!!!!
We went to our fav store and purchased this beauty.  I knew immediately that this would be my RED bench.  I had a vision and knew exactly what it was going to end up looking like.  Dick built the bench and then painted it Awning Red with his new paint gun that he got for his birthday.  He sure has learned how to make his painting perfect with it.
DSCN4125
We got to this point and began to do the black glazing and lo and behold the bench was almost ruined.  We switched glazing compounds to a Home Depot brand, Behr, which was the biggest error of all.  The dry time is to short and would dry before getting it rubbed off. Dick had to repaint the bench in the area that had been glazed and then another trip to Ogden to Lowe’s to get the right product, Valspar.
DSCN4200
We lightly distressed this bench instead of the heavy distressing that was done on the previous benches.  With an new batch of black glazing mixed up, we started the process of glazing our beautiful red bench.  The colors just change once the glazing process is started.

This bench is waiting for a new home.  While it waits, I get to enjoy it in my home.

Desk Delight….

SOLD!!!!
THIS DESK NOW BELONGS TO OUR NEIGHBORS.  THEY BOUGHT IT BEFORE IT WAS STARTED AND WERE ABLE TO CHOOSE THE COLORS.
I did not get a before picture of this desk, but it was a dark brown.  The desk had great character and some rather unique hardware that attracted Dick to it.  He fell in LOVE with it and had a vision in mind before we left DI’s.DSCN4287
We have new neighbors and they found out we restored furniture and wanted something for the bedroom or bathroom for her to use as a makeup vanity.  When she seen the ugly brown color, she too had a vision and wanted the desk to serve as her vanity.
DSCN4288
The desk was painted sand and lightly distressed then glazed with a chocolate brown.  The hardware was spray painted oil rubbed bronze.

I am so taken with this side of the desk and the marble look that the glaze made.  I found that it is all in how it is rubbed off.  I am getting more relaxed with the glazing part.

Strawflower Table

DSCN4161
When I found this table at DI, my heart started pounding and could not get to the table fast enough.  It’s beauty just captivated me.  The hand carved sides are just gorgeous and it has the true ball and claw feet.  It is my greatest treasure find yet.
When we bought the table it was a yucky brown and needed some repairs.  The handy dandy repair man (the hubby) went right to work and before you knew it the table was in excellent shape.

The table has 10 glass inserts, has been painted strawflower yellow, distressed and then glazed with brown.  Right now it is my living room, where I can enjoy it until it finds a new home.

Oregano Headboard Bench and End Table…

SOLD!!!
THIS BENCH NOW HAS A NEW HOME IN OGDEN, UT

DSCN4108
I love this bench and have had a hard time trying to part with it.  There isn’t anything I don’t like about it.  There is something about the back that just seems to draw me in.  I have fallen in LOVE with the color oregano so that is the color that Dick painted the bench then glazed in black.
DSCN4109
I am so taken with the posts on this bench.  They seem to set off the entire look that we were trying to capture.
DSCN4127
After the distressing was finished, the bench just took on a different character and the medallion just wants to pop right out at you.
DSCN4128
We found this table at our favorite store in the whole wide world, DI’s.  When my eye caught a glimpse of it, I went as fast as my legs would take me to grab the ticket off before anyone else could buy it.  It was an ugly brown (no before picture as the painter man beat me before pictures were taken).  After a light sanding and a good coat of primer and spray paint this is what we came up with.  It too is in the oregano and glazed with black.

I love how the table and bench compliment each other.  Tomorrow I get to bring them into my home to enjoy until they find a new home.

Burgundy End Table

SOLD!!!!!
THIS TABLE NOW HAS A HOME IN LAYTON, UT
DSCN4167
DSCN4168
Our favorite place to shop is the DI in Brigham City.  On one of our shopping trips we found an end table that looked so ugly in its dark brown color with gold hinges and handles.
DSCN4171
Dick took off all the hardware and painted them oil rubbed bronze (my favorite color right now) and painted the end table a beautiful burgundy color then distressed it.
DSCN4170
I took black glaze and made sure that the decorative items on the end table were coated and detailed.
DSCN4172
I do like the ending results….

of this end table.

It could be used as a night stand also.  There is tons of storage inside this piece of furniture.

Green Bench

SOLD
This bench has a new home in Syracuse, Utah.

DSCN3977
With lots imagination this gorgeous headboard became a bench.  We had to find a footboard for the arms and then a seat was constructed.
DSCN3979
There was a flaw in the motifs that were on the bed.  So the handy dandy hubby took the coping saw and fixed the piece on both sides so that they matched.  He had to do a little sanding to make the motif perfect.
DSCN3997
With our famous primer, no one is able to tell that this motif was not suppose to look like this.
DSCN3996
Next the entire bench was primed…..
DSCN3999
then the painting began.  We only use Krylon spray paint on our furniture as it has the best nozzle and it is easier to use.  Plus the coverage is fantastic.  Several light coats are used and the ending results are like furniture that you purchase from the store.
DSCN4014
We used Hosta green then distressed the bench before adding the final touch of a glaze tinted brown.
DSCN4020
DSCN4017
I love the tall posts on this bench.  To me it makes the bench look so elegant.
DSCN4019
After applying the glaze, the color suddenly changed and I love this bench.  We moved it into the living room where I will be able to enjoy it until it finds a new home.

Black & White Desk

SOLD

This desk found a new home in Syracuse, Utah.

DSCN4009

We finished this desk today.  It is hard to believe that it was once a yucky brown with gold handles.

    DSCN4011DSCN4012
Dick took the handles and painted them a glossy black. The desk is painted in ivory, distressed then glazed in black.
DSCN4013
This desk would make a great piece of furniture for a boy or girl’s room.  They would be able to hide all their treasures in one of seven drawers.

Blue Bench

SOLD
FotoFlexer_Photo blue bench

This bench was painted in strawflower, topped with widlflower and glazed in black. We distressed the bench to where the yellow would show through some of the blue.  Very chic-eee I think.
What a cute addition it will make in the bedroom of the little baby girl that lives in West Haven, Utah.

Yellow Bench

SOLD
FotoFlexer_Photo YB

This shabby chic bench was painted in strawflower then glazed with brown.  It now resides in Spanish Fork, Utah.
You might just see it in photos taken by Emily.
